Our first dance practice of the season with 5 dances to start! We covered The Gay Gordons, which is always the first dance of the night of the ball, Dashing White Sergeant, Waltz Country Dance, Linton Ploughmans, and The Machine Without Horses.
For our second practice we were accompanied by Daniel Kim, our piper for the ball, so we were able to practice The Gay Gordons with live bag pipes. We also learned two new dances, Petronella and Circassian Circle, as well as revisted The Machine Without Horses.
We warmed up practice by reviewing The Dashing White Sergeant and Linton Ploughman. We then introduced Gavin's Reel of Seoul, which is dance unique to the St. Andrew's Society of Seoul, Hamilton House, and ended the night with the crowd favorite - Strip the Willow!
Exactly 1 month until the ball! And we spent this momentous day productively by practicing the Waltz Country Dance, Petronella, Circassian Circle, and the Machine Without Horses. We also had our first introduction to the Reel of the 51st Division.
Four dance practices down, four to go! Tonight we conquered the Dashing White Sergeant, Gavin's Reel of Seoul, Hamilton House, and the Duke of Perth, which made it's triumphant debut!
We had a total of 32 dancers at practice, our largest group yet! We hope we have similar attendance for the remaining two practices! The dances of the night were Circassian Circle, Linton Plougman, Reel of the 51st Division, and Duke of Perth.
D-10 days until the 2023 St. Andrew's Ball and another great turnout for practice! We once again welcomed our piper Daniel Kim to help us replicate the Gay Gordons on the night of the ball. We also reviewed the Dashing White Sergeant one last time for good measure, introduced the final new dance, Postie's Jig, with great success, and finished with Hamilton House.
We welcomed around 40 people to our last dance practice of the season! Procrastinators (and Completionists) united to get some last minute instructions before the big event! Our last practice included the Waltz Country Dance, Gavin's Reel of Seoul, The Machine Without Horses, Postie's Jig, and, of course, Strip the Willow! We hope everyone had an enjoyable time attending practices and we hope to see everyone (plus some new faces) next year!
